Travel Trends: The Rise of the Coolcation

Heatwaves across Europe in summer 2023 saw temperatures hitting the high 40s in parts of the Mediterranean, including Spain, Italy and Greece, according to the Met Office. With record-breaking temperatures recorded worldwide last year, many tourists are looking for cooler holiday destinations for 2024. Google Trends data shows a 300% increase in the search term “cooler holidays” compared to the same time 12 months ago.

2024 Travel: Most Accessible Destinations in Europe

Travel should be accessible to everyone, including people living with a disability. However, people with disabilities are more likely to report a greater number of difficulties when travelling; 25% of people with disabilities report challenges when it comes to their travel, compared with only 10% of people without disabilities (GOV.UK).

Cruise Trends for 2023

Cruise continues to be one of the fastest-growing sectors of tourism. 36 million cruise passengers are expected globally in 2024, up by 14% in 2023, according to a report by the Cruise Line International Association (CLIA)
