Ski Resort Information, Ski Holidays to Westendorf

Westendorf

Westendorf is a lively and picturesque Tirollean village. Small and compact, the skiing, hotels and restaurants are located within easy walking distance of each other. Westendorf is ideal for those who are looking for a relaxed skiing holiday and some classic Austrian hospitality.

Skiing in Westendorf is served by a modern gondola, centrally located, and within an easy walking distance from most hotels. The main beginners area is located next to the gondola; a wide and gentle slope. The main Westendoft ski area is relatively modest, with some good intermediate skiing. After a good snow fall, there is some great off-piste to be had, although it should be noted that Westendorf is a low resort, and can suffer during low snow-fall winters.

The main Westendorf ski pass will also provide you with access to the Ski Welt, Austria’s largest ski area, connected to Ellmau, Scheffau, Soll and Hopfgarten. Buses regularly leave for the Ski Welt, and the journey takes about 15 minutes. Despite it’s size, the ski Welt offers little for advanced skiers. For intermediates, though, expect long sweeping runs and great mountain restaurants of which there are many.

Westendorf boasts a surprisingly lively nightlife, in part due to its popularity with the Dutch. Numerous bars and nightclubs are available. You can also enjoy sleigh rides, tobogganing (when snow permits) and night-time excursions to mountain top restaurants.

For non-skiers, Westendorf is also located a short journey away from Kitzbuhel, arguably Austria’s most famous resort. This attractive old walled town is great for a day’s exploration and shopping.
