VillarsVillars, although not technically in the Valais, is situated about 1 hour from Geneva and Sion airports and can also be reached by train. It is on a sunny shelf with lovely views towards the Portes du Soleil.
The village is attractive and mainly built in chalet style with numerous shops, many of which are not normally associated with a ski resort. A good resort for skiers and non skiers alike. The skiing is ideal for beginners and intermediates but is perhaps not challenging enough for advanced, but there is always the opportunity to visit other nearby resorts such as Leysin, with its famous revolving restaurant, Champéry and the Four Valleys. The Perche-Conche lift has made access to Les Diablerets easier. Bretaye and Les Chaux provide snowboarders with good opportunities. The resorts après ski entertainment is varied and the international clientele ensures that standards in restaurants and bars are very high. Children are well catered for in terms of skiing, ski school and entertainment. The ski school and kindergarten are excellent and both have many English speaking instructors. A good family resort, popular with many British skiers.
