Ski Resort Information, Ski Holidays to Vail
VailVail is one of America’s largest and most prestigious resorts reminding many British visitors of a classic Swiss Alpine Village rather than the more typical cowboy populated North American resort.
The resort is vast at more than 7 miles wide covering more than 5,000 acres of terrain and with more than 350 inches of snow providing some excellent powder for both skiers and boarders alike. Being the USA it has very a very efficient lift and bus service linking the front side, Back Bowls & Blue Sky Basin – all integral part of the Vail experience.
The Front Side alone boasts more than 127 trails, with virtually every type of terrain. Then there's the legendary Back Bowls which are revered by boarders and offering an unparalleled powder paradise. And for a true adventure experience, Blue Sky Basin, 645 acres of natural, smooth terrain - nestled more than 2 miles into the wilderness.
Village Centre
At the base of Vail mountain sits a Village - as charismatic as it is cosmopolitan. You can grab a beer at a neighborhood pub, mingle with the crowd during weekly street concerts, or stroll down historic Bridge Street with its eclectic mix of boutiques and art galleries to satisfy even the most seasoned shopper. And it's all just steps from slope side accommodations.
The nightlife has something for everyone from exquisite shopping, extraordinary dining from burgers and pizza to caviar and champagne and non-stop nightlife from piano bars to dance clubs.
For closet CAMRA supporters, the village has a couple of Microbreweries that are worth checking out. The Hubcap Brewery serves up Vail's best homemade beer and great food whilst the Kaltenberg Castle, located in LionsHead, offers authentic German beer, along with German food and music, which adds to the charming atmosphere.
Vail is a fantastic place for live music with great venues like the Ford Amphitheater, Dobson Ice Arena, as well as the streets of Vail and bars.
Geographically, Vail is located 2½ hours away from Denver international airport where most of the UK operators fly. This compares very favorably to most European airport to resort transfers.
