Ski Resort Information, Ski Holidays to Soll

Soll

Masses of great skiing to be had in Ski Welt, Austria’s largest ski area.

Soll lies deep in one half of the valley circling the Hohe Salve mountain. Along with Ellmau, Sheffau, Hopfgarten, Westendorf and a few others it makes up the Ski Welt area- Austria’s largest ski area. Soll itself is a modern town at about 700m with a lively atmosphere- both during daytime and by night.

The skiing here, 250km of it, will suit beginners perfectly with little waiting and a well renowned ski school. A multitude of easy greens and reds are available for skiers staying in Soll including some nursery slopes just by the village itself. Due to heavy investment in snow cannons many of the low runs have good snow reliability during the whole season. Confident intermediates will be able to ski their way across the whole area without difficulty but will still be challenged by some of the harder pistes. Experts may find that thrills are hard to come by (there are 8 black slopes in total) and there isn’t much off-piste to be had.

Snowboarders are well catered for with a decent fun park and half pipe not too far from the summit of Hohe Salve. Expert snowboarders and keen powder hounds won’t find too much to challenge them in Soll.

The village itself is quite small and quaint with a population of just 3000. Surrounded by striking mountain views the village is a little ways from the main lift stations but there is a regular free bus service. It has a good atmosphere and there are a number of good restaurants. The après ski starts early and ends late with some bars getting quite riotous towards the end of the night.
