Red Mountain"Old ski bums never die, they just move to Rossland" is the local adage. Red Mountain has become legendary amongst the world's dedicated skiers. This remote resort, offering only a handful of lifts, has become renowned for some of the most challenging skiing in North America. The resort caters well to intermediate skiers, but it is for the advanced skiing, no out-of-bounds restrictions and heavy seasonal snowfall that the worlds dedicated skiers make their way to the resort, season after season. Tree skiers will not be dissapointed.
Flying to Red involves an internal flight to Castlegar from either Vancouver of Calgary. The characteristic local town of Rossland, about a 10 minute drive from the ski area, has none of the glitz of the bigger international resorts. The town does have some apres-ski on offer, but it is the skiing which is the main focus of Rossland.
