Ski Resort Information, Ski Holidays to Mayrhofen
MayrhofenMayrhofen is popular, lively and friendly. It suits all age groups and all types of skiers, from the very young to very old, even non skiers will find plenty to do, with lovely walks and easy excursions to Innsbruck and Italy. The resort has grown to be quite large and spread out but has retained the atmosphere of a traditional Tyrolean village.
The main ski areas are the Penken, with its fast gondola and Ahorn, ideal for beginners, but they are not well linked. Mayrhofen is part of the Super Zillertal ski area, which has over 465km of skiing and the glacier at Hintertux. The skiing is probably best for beginners and intermediates and with four renowned ski schools, competition and standards are high. Night life is varied but does not encroach on those looking for a more peaceful holiday. Children are spoilt for entertainment and of particular note is the swimming pool with aqua slides and whirlpool.
Boardparks and Pipes
The boardpark here is groomed at end of day so is prone to ice in the morning. It is better to wait until it softens up at about 11am. There are some rails, a fun box and three kickers one after each other.
The first kicker is pretty good, the second a table top and the third is huge- not for the faint hearted.
Good times can be had just watching the riders while on the lift overtop. The music is pumping but the cd collection only consists of about 4 CDs.
