Ski Resort Information, Ski Holidays to Livigno
LivignoLivigno is an anomaly, being a tax free area within Italy. This status has been in existence since 1600. The resort is at 1800m so snow is reliable and is backed up by good snow making. It stretches out along the valley and is quite attractive. Most of the buildings are low rise and built in traditional style, slightly marred by the many electronic shops and supermarkets. The duty free status draws in more than just skiers so the après ski and night life is lively. Restaurants and bars are numerous and on the whole good value. The skiing is on both sides of the valley and is surprisingly convenient and well connected. It is probably best for beginners and intermediates although there is some interesting off piste for advanced skiers. Livigno is also a centre for telemark. The ski pass covers Bormio and Santa Caterina.
