Only some 50kms from Geneva and 20kms from Cluses for the TGV, Les Gets, and the neighbouring resort of Morzine, are among the easiest resorts in the Alps to access, particularly for the weekend.
Both resorts are popular, with Morzine having perhaps livelier night life. They share some of the densest skiing of the Portes du Soleil and access to the rest of the circuit is relatively easy.
The skiing is based in the main on both sides of the ridge which runs from Le Pleney to Le Ranfolly with connected skiing at La Turche beyond Les Gets and up to Nyon above Morzine. Les Gets also has a separate ski area at Mont Chéry with an interesting black run down to the Col de L’Encrenaz. The skiing has plenty to offer beginners and intermediates. Ski school in both resorts is not just limited to the Ecole du Ski Français and Morzine has the British Alpine Ski School which has small classes and high standards.
Les Gets is compact and charming with most activities happening along the two streets running up to the pretty church. Nearly all accommodation is convenient for the skiing. At the end of the day the shops, bars and tea rooms are packed but night life is more subdued. It’s a resort where people return again and again.
