Ski Resort Information, Ski Holidays to Killington
KillingtonOne of the largest snowmaking facilities in the world and a great lift system to take you around the 139km of pistes make Killington the resort to visit in Vermont.
With skiing up to 1293m and an impressive vertical drop of 957m make this a great place for all levels. Beginners are well equipped here with an accelerated learning area of easy pistes and easy blues leading down from most lifts. The ski school is one of the best on the East Coast and if the legs get tired there is plenty to do off the slopes. The mountain is very much developed for intermediates however. Plenty of amazingly groomed long reds and easy blacks are dotted liberally across the 9 peaks will make for great fast cruising. There are also a few areas set aside for intermediate ‘through the trees’ skiing. Advanced skiers may find that they can cover the whole mountain quite quickly but there is opportunity for off piste (which a guide). Some of the blacks are also over rated and would receive a red rating in Europe.
Snowboarders enjoy these mountains every bit as much as skiers do. With the longest terrain park (for skiers and snowboarders) in the east on Timberline over at Rams Head with well maintained big jumps, railings and quarter pipes, and 2 half pipes (one half pipe is World Class with 12 foot walls and over 400ft long).
Killington has a reputation for being a great apres ski resorts with plenty of lively bars and restaurants. There are also other activities like ice fishing, ice skating, indoor tennis and snowmobiling to amuse the visitor when not on the slopes.
