KaprunKaprun is a pretty alpine village with access to some superb snow sure skiing and surprisingly good nightlife for a village of its size.
Skiers and boarders have the choice of two ski areas, plus the local slopes around the village. The Kitzsteinhorn glacier, a 20 minute bus ride from the centre of the village, offers a great range of runs, particularly for the intermediate and beginner. The Schmittenhöhe mountain is situated behind the lakeside town of Zell am See, Kaprun’s larger and livelier neighbour, just a 10 minutes bus ride down the valley and is certainly worth a visit. It offers a further 80 kilometres of piste, including some excellent terrain for the advanced skier. Boarders will not be disappointed, Kaprun has a couple of half pipes and there is a board park at Zell am See.
Kaprun has a bowling alley and an impressive sports center for amusement away from the slopes. The village has a great selection of restaurants and a good number of lively bars, for those looking for an even livelier night out Zell am See is just a short taxi ride away.
