Gressoney lies at the heart of the Monte Rosa ski area covering150kms of piste over three valleys and with views of Mont Blanc, the Monte Rosa Glacier and the Matterhorn.
There are enormous opportunities here for all levels of skier - beginners have some ideal terrain with an excellent local ski school; Intermediates have a wide selection of challenging slopes and long runs from the ridges to the valleys on well groomed slopes whilst advanced skiers can enjoy the excellent and extensive Alpine off piste areas which complements the more demanding piste areas.
For Freeriding Boarders, there is a large amount of off piste terrain with gullies, big drop-ins and wide open bowls. For carvers there are ample wide runs and some easier flats for beginners to get stuck into.
The village is one of the three main villages in the Monte Rosa area and the modern lift facilities efficiently connect up to the other two main villages of Champoluc and Alagna.
Gressoney is a charming and unspoilt village, with building made from the traditional wood and stone buildings characteristic to the area and which reflects the distinctive local culture. The informal and relaxed night life is centred around the bars and cafes such as the Petit Bar and the Hirsch Stube - with excellent original draft beer.
The mountain restaurants such as Bedemie and Del Ponte above Gabiet offer good food at refreshingly attractive prices.
The nearest airports are Turin (100km) and Milan (165km).
