This charming little village plays host to some of the best runs in the Milky Way.
Claviere is one of the best bases in the 450km giant Milky Way. It is quite quiet, idyllic and has great beginners slopes right in the village. The lift pass also includes two days of the entire Milky Way system and busier Montgenevre is just over the hill- it can be walked in the evening.
Beginners will love Claviere. They have access to the entire 50km of Claviere’s local slopes, with some great nursery slopes, and they will be able to get to most of the mountain restaurants. Claviere’s pistes are also quite uncrowded compared to other parts of the Milky Way. Intermediates have plenty of challenging reds and blacks with through-the-trees skiing being the dish of the day- the lower reds in Claviere are ideal for it. The rest of the Milky Way will also offer plenty of amusement- it is one of the largest linked skiing areas in the world. Experts will probably need to head to other areas in the Milky Way such as Sestriere.
Snowboarders will find a board park to play in and also plenty of wide tree-lined runs.
Claviere is a quiet traditional village resort but there are some nice restaurants to investigate both on and off the slopes- and a few bars. Walking around the village at night is a bit like walking in a winter wonderland. It’s also not too far to Montgenevre, which is much livelier, and you can walk between the two if you are dressed very warmly.
